It was a great joy that a son of Madhya Pradesh, Kailash Satyarthi was awarded Nobel Peace Prize last year for his work for the rights of children. The prize was shared with Malala of Pakistan who campaigned for the education of children. India is blessed with a young population. It will be a great achievement if all the children our land have an opportunity for quality education. St. Joseph's H.S. School is doing its share by making available this service in the city of Indore. The present issue of the school magazine showcases many facets of this service to the children. I congratulate the staff, students, parents and management for their achievements of the year.

The growth of St. Joseph’s School, Nandanagar and its finding a place of its own among the premier educational institutions of the city is the of able administration and the competent staff members. The school never compromises on quality. “Excellence” is the catch word for the school. The holistic growth of a student in all spheres is our aim. Therefore we offer a wide spectrum of activities to the students.

Education is not the preparation for life. But Education is life itself. Quality education is today’s need as it is the development of intellectual skills and knowledge which will equip learners to fulfill the needs of professionals, decision makers and trainers. The education system needs to make students as learners, innovators, scholars, researchers and trainers. Students need to acquire in depth understanding of practicing world. They are to be made thinkers, problem analyzers and solvers, decision makers, group leaders. Education is the most powerful tool for change and hence it must train the minds of those being educated to cope with the change.

Everyone says that education is the key to success, and everyone wants to educate their children. The vast amount of knowledge gained through education prepares individuals to solve problems, teach others, function at a higher level and implement transformational ideas. Without education, one's chances for securing a good job and ascending to a higher economic and social status are often limited. A good education gives individuals the practical knowledge to succeed in their profession of choice after landing a job. It also allows individuals to expand upon their natural skill and talents and turn them into something greater. When a solid education is combined with experience. individuals can truly show their potential.

A good education lays the path for a better quality of life. There have been many studies done, both formal and informal, that show the effects of education or lack thereof in a person's life. As a nation we realize the importance of an education for all children, which is why we have a public school system to offer every child an educational opportunity, regardless of their background. parent's income or any other factors. Education allows us to discover ourselves, our environment and our world; and to make educated choices about our future. Educated men and women have the skills, information and self-confidence to make better parents, workers and citizens. People that are educated tend to have better paying jobs, be more law abiding, healthier and educate their own children better. Understanding the long term effects education has, not only with an individual but with our nation and generations to come is extremely important in helping us put the proper emphasize needed on education. Education, if looked at beyond its conventional boundaries, forms the very essence of all our actions. What we do is what we know and have learned, either through instructions or through observation and assimilation. When we are not making an effort to learn, our mind is always processing new information which helps us to develop different ideas and views to better our life and the nation.

While most feel that education is a necessity, they tend to use it as a tool for reaching a specific target or personal mark, after which there is no further need to seek greater education. Education cannot stop once you are out of your schooling. It is a continuous process which will never be exhausted. Nonetheless, the importance of education in society is indispensable and cohering, which is why society and knowledge cannot be ever separated into two distinct entities. Therefore the education has to become life guiding star which will help an individual to be a better human person. Our focus of imparting good education is not only to fill the minds of children with the knowledge and wisdom but to fill them with the human qualities which will make them a true Indian as he/she passes out from our educational institutions. Therefore Teacher plays a, important role in molding the students. Students are to be handled with affection and courtesy. The students point of view must always be considered once before he apply his opinion on them. At school, teacher is like the parent to student. He/she must try to see if the students are fine, healthy and active. He/she has to encourage students to take up extracurricular activities besides studies and also welfare programs with the support of other teachers. Students generally keep a watch on teacher's life. So, a teacher has to maintain good set of manners and try to b, a role model. This not only helps students adopt it but also improves their regard to the teacher. It is common that children try to imitate the teachers out of inspiration from them. This implies that one should play the role of teacher with dedication, honesty, affection and patience Hence let us use the education as the weapon as Nelson Mandela says, "Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world."

Head Mistress’ Message

The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet- Aristotle
Education for the future

Adults look upon a child as something empty that is to be filled through their own effort, as something inert and helpless for which they must do everything, as something lacking an inner guide and in constant need of inner direction.

An adult acts in this way, even though he may be convinced, that he is filled with zeal, love and a spirit of sacrifice on behalf of his child, unconsciously suppresses the development of the child’s own personality.

Success does not come in the flash of a second. One has to go step by step and patiently follow the norms. A double step may lead you ahead but at the same time you miss the intermediate bliss. For long lasting success one has to move according to the system.

It is true we cannot make a genius. We can only give each child the chance to fulfill his or her potential possibilities to become an independent, secured and balanced human being.

So let us sow the best values in ourselves and reap the yield of an accomplished target and be true citizens of incredible India.
